Microsoft has rolled out the KB5034122 cumulative update for Windows 10 21H2 and 22H2, primarily focused on the January 2024 Patch Tuesday security updates. This mandatory update, albeit small due to the holiday period, will automatically initiate during the update check. Users can schedule the restart for installation convenience. Upon installation, Windows 10 21H2 will upgrade to build 19044.3930, and Windows 10 22H2 will transition to build 19045.3930. Alternatively, users can manually download KB5034122 from the Microsoft Update Catalog. This update introduces only three fixes: addressing ActiveX scroll bar malfunction in IE mode, resolving device shutdown within 60 seconds when using a smart card for remote authentication, and rectifying the smart card icon display issue during sign-in with multiple certificates. However, three known issues persist in this update. BitLocker may incorrectly display a 65000 error in "Require Device Encryption" settings, Copilot might cause monitor icon switches, and Copilot is not compatible with vertically positioned taskbars on the left or right. Microsoft clarifies that the BitLocker errors are inaccurately reported and can be disregarded. Despite the limited fixes, users are encouraged to install KB5034122 for crucial security patches, noting the reported issues and understanding Microsoft's clarifications regarding BitLocker errors.
