Description

On 24th April 2023, Microsoft, an IT giant, suffered an outage that prevented a few customers from using the search functionality across several Microsoft 365 services, which impacts Outlook on the Web, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Outlook desktop clients, and more. In response to the service outage, the company stated that they are investigating the issue and are analyzing service telemetry to determine its source and developing a mitigation plan. However, the company has not disclosed whether this issue affects customers worldwide or only in specific areas. Also, another issue affecting the Teams communication platform is being addressed concurrently by Microsoft, where users are reporting error screens when starting the software. According to the company, when the issues first began appearing, they identified the cause and are reviewing options for releasing a fix to correct it for all users, Microsoft is now testing two options, either reverting to an earlier unaffected build or developing a fix. Furthermore, in another outage last week, Microsoft 365 services were down worldwide, preventing customers from signing into their accounts or accessing web apps once logged in. Azure Active Directory infrastructure suffered timeout exceptions due to caching infrastructure performing below acceptable performance thresholds, resulting in the outage.
