According to French-language media outlet Numerama, in November 2022, sports goods maker Intersport has been hit by the ransomware group Hive, which leaked its customer's personal data, and the details are made available only on the dark web. The reports state that Intersport was handed a same-day deadline to pay an undisclosed amount but added that it is also possible that the gang is giving the company some more time to pay, or the negotiations are going on. Moreover, Numerama claims that Hive leaked passports, paystubs and other details on Intersport customers are included in a sample file on the dark web. Also, it has been observed that Intersport's customers in the northern Hauts-de-France region looked to be the main victims, according to stores identified in the leaked files. however, other regions like Île-de-France have also been affected. According to the company's statistics, there are more than 700 locations. Furthermore, the Russia-linked RaaS group Hive is widely known to have infiltrated more than 1,300 businesses over the course of its career. According to the FBI, the group has successfully extorted over $100 million in ransom payments from the victims so far.
