Google has published its November 2026 Android Security Bulletin, addressing multiple critical vulnerabilities that could expose supported devices to remote code execution (RCE) attacks without requiring user interaction or additional execution privileges. Released on November 2, the bulletin identifies a serious flaw in the Android Framework alongside two critical vulnerabilities affecting the System component. The three RCE issues, tracked as CVE-2026-58868, CVE-2026-58876, and CVE-2026-58936, impact Android versions 14, 15, 16, 16-QPR2, and 17. Google has classified these vulnerabilities as critical due to their potential impact, although detailed technical information regarding the underlying weaknesses and possible exploitation methods has not been disclosed. In addition to the RCE flaws, the security update addresses several other critical vulnerabilities involving privilege escalation and denial-of-service conditions. These include CVE-2026-55275, CVE-2026-55283, CVE-2026-58984, CVE-2026-58814, and CVE-2026-58882, affecting different Android platform components and releases. Google has also resolved CVE-2026-58988, a high-severity information disclosure vulnerability in the Android Runtime. Notably, CVE-2026-58876 is also referenced in the Google Play system update documentation, indicating that a Project Mainline update path is available for this particular issue. However, this does not mean all vulnerabilities covered by the bulletin can be addressed exclusively through Google Play system updates. Google recommends installing the latest available security updates to protect Android devices against these vulnerabilities. Devices running security patch levels of 2026-11-01 or later receive fixes for the applicable Framework and System issues, while the 2026-11-05 patch level incorporates additional kernel and vendor-related security fixes. Organizations should prioritize deploying available updates across supported devices and verify their installed patch levels. Users are also encouraged to enable Google Play Protect and leverage Android's built-in security protections to reduce potential exposure to malicious applications and exploitation attempts.
