Description

Google released a security update for Chrome 155 Stable on October 15, 2026, addressing 10 vulnerabilities across Windows, macOS, and Linux. The update includes one critical, six high-severity, and three medium-severity flaws affecting multiple browser components. The most severe vulnerability could potentially enable memory corruption and code execution, increasing the risk of browser compromise. Google has not reported confirmed exploitation of these vulnerabilities in the wild. The critical vulnerability, CVE-2026-110922, is a use-after-free flaw in Prerender, which allows Chrome to load webpages in the background to improve navigation speed. If a user visits a malicious or compromised webpage, specially crafted content could potentially trigger the flaw, causing the browser to access previously freed memory. Successful exploitation may result in memory corruption and potentially arbitrary code execution within the browser renderer. The high-severity vulnerabilities include CVE-2026-110913, involving memory corruption in DOM; CVE-2026-110919 and CVE-2026-110921, involving use-after-free flaws in V8; CVE-2026-110918, involving memory corruption in Core; CVE-2026-110917, involving memory corruption in SVG; and CVE-2026-110920, involving memory corruption in V8. The remaining medium-severity vulnerabilities affect additional browser functionality and could contribute to instability or security compromise under specific conditions. CVE-2026-110916 involves improper input validation in Desktop, potentially allowing malformed input to be processed incorrectly. CVE-2026-110915 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Compositing, while CVE-2026-110914 involves memory corruption in Workers. Depending on exploitability, attackers could potentially combine these weaknesses with other vulnerabilities to increase their capabilities. However, Google has not disclosed confirmed attack chains or evidence that these vulnerabilities are being actively exploited. Organizations and individual users should promptly update Chrome to version 155.0.8059.84/.85 on Windows and macOS, or 155.0.8059.84 on Linux. Users should navigate to About Google Chrome, check for updates, and relaunch the browser. Administrators should prioritize enterprise-wide patch deployment, verify browser versions, enable automatic updates, and maintain endpoint security monitoring to reduce exposure to potential attacks.
