Description

The notorious BreachForums, a hub for data leaks and hacking discussions, saw its clearnet domain taken offline by rival threat actors. The group R00TK1T, in collaboration with the Cyber Army of Russia, claimed responsibility for breaching user data following the takedown. R00TK1T, known for previous attacks on the Malaysian government and telecom operators, declared their intent to leak user information, including IPs and emails. While the clearnet domain suffered a takedown, the TOR version of BreachForums remains operational, despite claims of a joint DDoS attack by R00TK1T and Cyber Army of Russia. Administrator Baphomet assured users via Telegram that efforts were underway to restore the domain and recommended accessing the forums through the TOR site in the meantime. Baphomet downplayed the incident, attributing it humorously to global surveillance efforts. Despite facing setbacks, Baphomet assured the community that BreachForums would persevere, even introducing a temporary new domain (breachforums.st). Baphomet emphasized continuous availability via the TOR domain and assured users that no data had been compromised. R00TK1T countered Baphomet's claims, promising further chaos. BreachForums has a history of troubles, including the arrest of its former owner and seizure by the FBI. Following these events, Baphomet assumed control and collaborated with the black-hat group ShinyHunters to reopen the forum, despite initial suspicions of compromise. ShinyHunters, known for major data breaches, facilitated the forum's return to operation.
