Description

On April 25, 2023, Americold, a prominent cold storage and logistics firm, experienced IT problems following a breach of its network. As per reports from customers and employees, the attack also affected operations, however the company confirmed that the attack has been contained and that they are currently investigating the incident. Moreover, the company has shut down their network to prevent any risk to non-contained areas or customers as they are still in the discovery process and are working to rebuild impacted systems. Americold expects to bring their systems back online by mid-next week, although the timeline may change depending on the level of data recovery. Additionally, to address the network breach, Americold has asked its customers to reschedule non-critical outbounds and cancel all inbound deliveries planned beyond next week, an only consider critical outbound deliveries that may potentially reach expiration dates. The company has limited manual capabilities for outbounds, and thus requests for non-critical outbounds to be postponed and rescheduled with the site SR at a later date. Americold is focusing on rebuilding impacted systems suggesting that a ransomware attack is likely to be the cause.
