Description

AMD is investigating a potential cyberattack after a threat actor, IntelBroker, claimed to have stolen data and put it up for sale on a hacking forum. The stolen data allegedly includes AMD employee information, financial documents, and confidential details. In a statement, AMD confirmed they are aware of the claims and are working closely with law enforcement and a third-party hosting partner to investigate the situation and assess the data's significance. IntelBroker has shared screenshots of purported AMD credentials but has not disclosed the sale price or how the data was obtained. The threat actor posted, "On 18th June 2024, I’m selling the AMD.com data breach. The compromised data includes future AMD products, spec sheets, employee databases, customer databases, property files, ROMs, source code, firmware, and finances." According to DarkWebInformer, the stolen data includes an employee database with user IDs, names, job functions, phone numbers, email addresses, and employment status. IntelBroker is infamous for previous breaches, including the DC Health Link incident, which exposed personal data of U.S. House of Representatives members and staff, leading to a congressional hearing. Recently, IntelBroker was also responsible for breaching the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE), a web portal used for information sharing among international law enforcement agencies. This incident follows a June 2022 investigation by AMD into a breach by the RansomHouse extortion gang, which claimed to have stolen 450GB of data from AMD.
